Happy Easter

It’s Good Friday today and I know lots of you are on holiday and hopefully getting the chance to enjoy the spring sunshine.

So I thought this week Top of The Shops could have a slight twist to it; instead of talking about individual items I am talking about one Shop.Zara. And why does it get special treatment? Because I think it is doing good!

I have always been a fan of Zara for their designs and quality versus price point. You do need to know what to shop for but generally they always have a few things worth purchasing every time I visit. Of course only when I actually need them! No point buying something I don't actually need and break my own guidelines! Their
Join Life collection is growing and their new denim additions and high waist jeans in a few yummy colours are really worth a look. Their t-shirts are still very very fine and not ideal even with a camisole below unless the sheer look is the look you are going for. They would be great popped under a shift dress, but on their own for me they are lacking both structure in the knit and they are a bit bumpy, none of us wants bumps. Our bras and waistbands are good at providing them without adding fabrics on top that make them stand out more! Love their new little bucket bag too and I have featured some of the pieces in this weeks How to Wear It below.

Also on the Easter theme, this week’s How to Wear is about casual looks for that morning stroll, Easter egg hunt or whatever outdoorsy thing you get up to this Sunday. I know we all lead such varied lives so I have put the looks together for three very different people.

The first look is sportswear but as you will know, this attire is no longer restricted to the gym, it is perfectly acceptable for a stroll round the park or up a hill as well as the yoga class, or HIIT training session. The second look I have opted for more feminine touches but keeping it edgy and right up to the minute too. Lastly I have put a classic twist on traditional navy and kept it contemporary with adding a zing of lime green. Read on to learn more about the three looks I have created for you.

As more and more of us shop online, the packaging used to ship your goods to you becomes a really important factor too.Zara have been using recycled cardboard boxes for many a season now, but are also encouraging you to donate your clothes in store as well.  Put this together with their Join Life clothing collection, their social responsibility and environmental policies and I am a very happy bunny to see a high street brand lead the way. Good work Zara!

There is still going to be a chill in the air so this down filled jacket is ideal. Really light weight to stuff in a bag and doesn't create any bulk or add volume to your frame when you wear it. A bright techy t-shirt by Marmot below if you do shed a layer. I know wearing your Lululemonsout and about is a step too far for some of you but you can just as easily pair this sporty jacket with a dark grey jean if you prefer.

I love the embroidered sleeves on this denim jacket by a new own label brand inJohn Lewis. Pair with some blush jeans a pretty floral and beaded scarf and you flat little Sorrell boots and you will walk for miles. Depending on the day in your part of the world, pop a long sleeve blue t-shirt or fine knit below to keep off the chill and off you go!

Grab a classic navy blazer but pop a contrast coloured soft down gilet over it to make it take on a whole new dimension. It doesn't need to be green it could be pink, red or even silver grey and it will give your Easter classic look the edge. These jeans from Gerard Darrel have a more relaxed boyfriend fit rather than skinny styles and can be worn with a small roll at the hem as shown so you can flash a bit of ankle if you are not wearing boots with them.

We love to hear from you our lovely members so if there is anything you would like us to cover in our Friday letters please do get in touch with us here

Happy Easter Friday everybody!

Stylish Wishes.
