Less Is More...

Why shopping for clothes can be like buying chocolate.

Often less can be more satisfying than a large quantity, especially if less is also better quality and more luxurious.

But what would you rather indulge upon? A small, exquisite and expensive hand made chocolate treat, or gorging on a mountain of buy 2 get 1 free Easter chocolate treats from the supermarket?

Often less can be more satisfying than a large quantity, especially if less is also better quality and more luxurious.

The same applies to shopping for clothes. We know that a sweet treat gives us a sugar rush and a good feeling, just as the satisfaction of making a new purchase can too. The big but is; will you regret it afterwards?

Learning to control our appetite for clothes and changing our tastes and preferences brings benefits in many ways. Not only does your bank balance take less of a hammering but also you don’t need to have any feelings of guilt for those purchases you make but never wear.

The little white lies every boyfriend, husband or partner is wise to of, "Darling I have had this for years!" can become a thing of the past.

Before you go shopping you should know what you are looking for and why. Spring clean your wardrobe and organise what you already have then ask yourself what am I missing?

But if you find yourself time pressured for planning ahead or simply love a day out at the shops at least ask yourself these simple questions before you rush off to pay for something new.

1. Do I already possess a similar item in the same colour?

2. What do I have that I can wear with it?

3. Where will I wear it?

4. How many times am I going to wear it and consider 'price per wear'?

Answering these will tell you if you really do need that item in your wardrobe, and ensure that you are not overindulging in something which may add to the unworn clothes mountain, or the never worn accessories pile.

Be confident with your style and what you want from your clothes and you can feel amazing in every item in your wardrobe. This feeling is better than any sugar rush high because you get to enjoy looking and feeling fabulous everyday.

Happy conscious shopping, happy you!
